Laura Cortes Awarded Prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship
Laura Cortes, a first-year NI doctoral student, has been named a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. This is a highly competitive, national award that supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported fields. Fellows receive a 3-year annual stipend of $34,000 per year, as well as a $12,000 cost of education allowance paid to their institution. For up to 5 years, fellows can also take advantage of support for international research experience and various professional development programs. Several past Nobel Prize winners have been NSF Graduate Research Fellows (no pressure, Laura!).
