Neuroscience Major Antoinette Charles Receives Nu Rho Psi National Undergraduate Research Grant
Congratulations to Antoinette Charles who has been awarded a Nu Rho Psi Undergraduate Research Grant for $1,000 to support her attendance to the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience in San Diego, CA. Antoinette will be presenting a poster on her research from Dr. Angela Mabb’s lab related to a rare disorder called Gordon Holmes syndrome (GHS). Her work is specifically focused on determining how gene disruptions in GHS alter the growth and survival of neurons. Antoinette is currently a Gates Millennium Scholar and BS/MS Neuroscience major that has conducted research in the Mabb lab since the summer of 2016. Antoinette is also a co-author on a recent manuscript from the Mabb lab in the Frontiers in Genetics.
Nu Rho Psi is an independent non-profit, grass-roots National Honor Society in Neuroscience that was founded in 2006 by the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience. This organization supports high quality research projects conducted by undergraduate student members of Nu Rho Psi by defraying direct research costs and/or by providing direct student financial support. Antoinette and her mentor Dr. Mabb will be formally recognized at the Nu Rho Psi National meeting held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience.
