B.S. in Psychology at Georgia State University
Nicole (Niko) is originally from Louisville, Kentucky and she moved to Atlanta to finish her B.S. in Psychology at Georgia State University. It was during this time she developed interests in the neural basis of motivational and addictive behavior. In the Petrulis Lab, she has been working to understand the effects of vasopressin in the extended amygdala. She has been using new tools/technology to sharpen her evaluation of neuroendocrine effects on appetitive and social behavior. These techniques include whole brain mapping of vasopressin neuronal inputs using transgenic mice and rabies virus, CLARITY, and ablation of vasopressin expressing neuronal populations. Outside of lab, she plays video games and writes music.
