Planning Your Course of Study

Below is a Recommended Course of Study for the B.S. in Neuroscience that gives an overview of an optimal four-year course of study. In addition, we created a Personal Course Planner that you can use to customize your course of study. Need help? Contact the Neuroscience Institute Undergraduate Coordinator.

Recommended Course of Study

The schedule below provides guidance on an optimal four-year course of study for the B.S. in Neuroscience. This schedule represents just one of many possible sequences. For example, it does not include taking any summer courses, any Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate credits students may have, and does not account for any adjustments that must be made for students who cannot take 15-17 credit hours per semester.

Some special notes:

  • The Pre-Medicine Concentration requires Chem 2400, 3410, 3100, and 3110. These courses can be applied to Area H.
  • Students must have 39 hours at Georgia State University taken at the 3000/4000 level for the residency requirements, and complete at least 120 hours for graduation.
  • You are encouraged to take more than the 15 credit hours of required neuroscience electives and more than the 120 credit hours required for graduation.

Personal Course Planner

We have developed a handy Personal Course Planner, as a fillable PDF, to help you plan your course of study. The Personal Course Planner includes many options to customize your schedule in accordance with the B.S. in Neuroscience degree requirements. However, The Personal Course Planner is not a replacement for the full description of the B.S. in Neuroscience degree requirements listed in the University Course Catalog. Therefore, you should confirm your selections in The Personal Course Planner with the course catalog to finalize your schedule.
