Social Stress Changes Your Gut
B&B Fellows and Faculty came together with other collaborators and published a paper on how social stress changes your gut bacteria.
In an experiment that involved 2 male animals involved in social conflict resulting in a winner and loser, the authors found that gut bacteria changes in response to social stress. Interestingly, gut microbiota changes were found not just in the losers, but also the winners. In addition, authors discovered that microbiotic signatures help predict how an animal fares in social conflict.
