PROBIST is a post-doctoral fellowship program led by the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under a Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant, to award a total of 61 fellowships to be dedicated to top research in the Barcelona and Tarragona area (Spain). Ravi Das, a Neuroscience Institute Ph.D. graduate and former member of the Cox lab, is one of this year’s fellows. He is now based at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), a leading institution in Europe focused on advancing the science of light to develop advanced light-based technologies that tackle current and future problems in areas such as health, energy, and the environment. Being interested in how mechanical force plays a role in proprioception, Dr. Das’s project, hosted at Dr. Michael Krieg’s lab, seeks to understand how cytoskeletal mechanics influences the cell’s ability to sense forces in C. elegans in light of proprioception.
