GUACAMOLE
Guacamole allows Neuroscience users to access their Windows and Linux computers remotely via web browser.
- Request access by emailing your PI and University Centers Research Technology at [email protected]
- Log in using Google Chrome with your Campus ID at https://guac.ni.gsu.edu and approve the Duo prompt
- If prompted by Google Chrome about clipboard sharing click Allow to enable copy-paste
- Expand the tree near the bottom of the web page and navigate to your computer
- When finished sign out of Windows or close your Guacamole Google Chrome tab
NOTE: Windows only allows 1 to 2 concurrent connections. If another user is already connected to a computer remotely you won’t be able to connect until they disconnect. Coordinate with your lab members to avoid conflict.
Disconnection Types
Windows
- SIGN OUT = Closes open programs (via Start Menu)
- DISCONNECT = DOES NOT close open programs (via Start Menu)
- Closing Guacamole Google Chrome tab = Same as disconnect
Linux
- SIGN OUT = Closes open programs (via the Gnome System Menu in the top-right)
- Closing Guacamole Google Chrome tab = DOES NOT close open programs
Tips
- Traffic is secured via HTTPS so connecting to the campus VPN is not required to utilize Guacamole
- Closing Google Chrome is similar to DISCONNECT
- You can also disconnect using Guacamole’s menu SHIFT + CTRL + ALT
- Windows only allows 1 to 2 concurrent connections so coordinate with your lab members to avoid conflict
- When another user signs out or disconnects from Windows it frees up the connection
- Servers disconnect users after being idle for 1 hour to help with concurrent use
