Tara is an “Original Georgia Peach” born and raised right in South West Atlanta. She was a student in the Math & Science Academy magnet program of Benjamin E. Mays high school. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Georgia State University, and master’s degrees in both Psychology and Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix. In addition, Tara currently holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification.

In her role as the Business Manager of the Neuroscience Institute, she manages the state and residual accounts of the department, Brains and Behavior Program funds and, Center for Neuromics funds. Her total budget responsibility exceeds $6 million per year. Tara’s Human Resource and financial administration day-to-day responsibilities include entering payroll actions, approving research and supply orders, budgeting and forecasting for state and seed grant accounts, reconciling purchase card transactions, and managing the foundation account transactions.

In addition to her work with the Neuroscience Institute, Tara has been active with her service to the College of Arts and Sciences. Her service includes the Staff Executive Committee, which she has served on for the past 5 years, the Spectrum Plus Project Implementation Team, and her work as a member of the staff grievance panel. In Tara’s free time she loves to read, binge on Netflix, and also spending time with her 3 children. Tara also enjoys staying current in her profession by attending seminars and conferences in the field of Human Resource Management.
